Term 2

Hello and welcome back to one of our favourite terms as it leads up to Christmas!  This term we will focusing on our Spiritual Big Idea.  We all lead such busy lives, I wonder whether we ever get a chance to just sit and reflect on ourselves as us as spiritual beings?  What does spirituality mean to you?  Our geography topic this term is Europe and our PE days are still Tuesday and Friday - please come into school in PE kit on both of those days.

Have a look at our curriculum page for more information about what we are learning this term.  We will update this page with photos of our learning throughout the term.

Term 1

Welcome back!  We hope you have all had a lovely summer holiday and are ready and refreshed for a fun and busy term ahead.  This term we are developing our Skilful Big Idea.  Our history topic is Ancient Egypt and our PE days are Tuesday and Friday – please come in in PE kit on both of those days.

Check out our curriculum page for more information about the learning we are doing this term.  We will update this page with photos of what we have been learning in class.

Skilful Day

This week Fox Class participated in Skilful Day.  Our day was split into five different skills: problem-solving, listening games, personal hygiene, forest school and using technology.  We really enjoyed starting off the day getting into groups and playing our favourite board games including Twister, Monopoly and Frustration.  We had fun using our listening skills to create crazy alien pictures, discussed the importance of daily washing and brushing of teeth and learnt about the advantages and disadvantages of AI.  Our favourite part of the day was when we all got into groups and built dens out of sticks and tarpaulin.

Sponsored Run

This term along with the rest of the school we took part in a sponsored run to help raise funds for our forest school and outdoor learning.  We all ran around the playground for 20 minutes and learnt the importance of starting off slow and having several breaks for water.  We were all so proud of ourselves when the final whistle went and we got to do our stretches and have a rest.  At the end of the week we joined the other classes in the medal ceremony where we all got a medal for taking part.  What a great challenge!

Egyptian Art

We have all loved our History topic of Ancient Egypt this term and have enjoyed doing different types of Egyptian art too.  We researched into cartouches which are oval frames which surround hieroglyphs that make up the name of an Egyptian God or royal person.  We all designed our own on paper and then made them out of clay.

First Few Weeks Back!

We have had a fantastic first few weeks back to school.  Everyone has settled in really well to Fox class and we have all become a wonderful class family.  We have enjoyed starting our football and gymnastic lessons in PE.  Mrs Bales was particularly impressed by the different balances and ways of travelling shown in Gym this week.  In PSHE we have spoken about what makes a good team and we have also had lots of great discussions about friendship as that is this term's Christian value.  Our new history topic of Ancient Egypt has been a big hit especially when we learnt all about the slightly gruesome mummification process!  Can you remember how to write your name in hieroglyphics?  Mrs Bales and Mrs Frazer have been so impressed with how Fox class has been living out our school vision of "Let everything you do be done with love" and also how everyone has been following our school rules of Ready, Respectful and Safe.  It is due to this that Fox class have already filled up their marble jar and earned 100 marbles, definitely a record for the class to do this so close to the start of term!  Well done Fox class we look forward to celebrating with some time doing games outside next week!
