Welcome to Hare Class

Here we are:

Welcome to Hare Class!  Mrs Waddington and Mrs Brown are our class teachers who teach us every morning.  Mrs Waddington also teaches Monday afternoons.  Mrs Brown teaches us on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday afternoons.  On Wednesdays, we have subject specialists teaching us Music and PE.  Mrs Kerley and Mrs Steventon support us at different times throughout the week.

PE DAYS

Tuesday and Wednesday

In Key Stage 2, children need to come to school in their PE kits on both of these days.

Term 4

Welcome back!

We hope everyone has had a wonderful half-term break.  We have Mrs Hedges and Mrs Bales joining the Hare Class team this term to help out.  How exciting!

We are busy reading (with our own copies) Charlotte's Web - which the children are thoroughly enjoying.

Term 3

Welcome back everyone!  We hope you all had the most amazing Christmas and New Year.  We would like to say a huge thank you for all of our wonderful gifts - they are very much appreciated!

We have some exciting learning planned for this term as we study in depth the Romans! If you wish to extend your child's knowledge on this before we teach it may we suggest a visit to a Roman Villa or the Roman Baths.

This term we will be using the book The Boy who Grew Dragons by Andy Shepherd, which some of our Year 4s may be familiar with, but we are looking at writing some dialogue and some descriptive action pieces.

We have also been busy learning to play the glockenspiel!  Look at us go!

In RE, we are learning about symbols that are important to the Jewish people.  This week we made mezuzahs.

Term 1

Week 2

We have begun reading our class book for this term, The Wild Robot. It is a very exciting read, and it is so amazing to see that two children in the class have got their own copies to read along with me!  What avid readers they are!  Our raffle tickets are coming in thick and fast ready for the reading prizes on a Friday, so keep reading out loud with a grown up to get a raffle ticket in the pot.

The more times you read, the more chances you have to win!

Week 3

We have been busy learning about the artist, Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  We have been very creative and we have produced our own artwork inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  Don't they look great?

Week 5

In our Science lessons, we have been exploring light.  It was fascinating to see how shadows changed in size dependent on how close they were to the source of light!

Week 7

In our art lessons, we got to paint our fabulous designs based on the work of Giuseppe Arcimboldo.  It was fantastic to see the children being so creative!

Week 8

Skilful Day!  We have had a fabulous day, learning about our teeth and building shelters!

Term 2

Week 1

Welcome back!  We are so excited to announce that Mrs Brown is now also Hare Class teacher alongside Mrs Waddington.  It was lovely to hear about all of the exciting adventures everyone got up to during half term and it was particularly lovely to hear that so many children had visited the cinema to watch the new release of 'The Wild Robot' which was our class book from last term.

It's been a busy first week back with the children now reading the class book - George's Marvellous Medicine.  We have begun to explore the setting of the kitchen within the book and the children have been excited to start writing sentences using subordinating conjunctions to help support their descriptions. Great job, Hares!

Maybe your child might like their own copy to read along in class with?  Salisbury Library offer a great selection of books and you could always borrow it from there for this term!

We have also been engaged in creating a Remembrance Day piece of artwork.  Pictures to follow!

Some reminders:

Professor Assessor - remember to keep going on this! We have been trying to keep up resetting this for some children who are whizzing through the questions.  We will always update this weekly.

Reading - remember to keep reading at home and signing the reading record so that your child can be in the weekly raffle for a prize!

Here is the final Remembrance Day display.  We think it looks amazing. Our thoughts are with everyone  who gave their life in the line of duty.

Week 2

It has been Anti-bullying week this week.  On Tuesday we all wore odd socks to school to celebrate difference and we looked in detail at respect.  Today, we even created our own odd socks and displayed them across the washing line.  They look fantastic!

Reading and reading lists

Book reviews and recommendations have been introduced in class now and children can complete a book review of any book that they have read in order to share their thoughts with the class.

Please keep listening to your child read daily and asking them questions about the vocabulary they come across.

Can I also remind everyone about reading lists.  Children should be practising reading these words regularly.
